AUGUST 30th - Queerchester Films NW at Pride 2015
At our Pride Film Party will be showing highly original queer films made locally, a wide selection of short stories, documentaries, music videos and other interesting films. The night will be a celebration of local film-makers and many of the local film-makers will be there, to talk about their films and to network.
You can find out more about us on the Queer Alt. Manchester page and on our own Queerchester Films North West page.
Queerchester Films NW's aim is to help more local queer films to be made; to show films to inspire film-maker; and to showcase local queer film-makers.
£3 entry - Gullivers - 7pm upstairs
109 Oldham St., M4 1LW Manchester
MEET THE GROUP
Andy
Steven
"I founded Queerchester Films North West in August 2014 as part of the Queer We Are Festival because I realised there was no spaces to show or network for queer film makers in Manchester. Meeting so many passionate local queer film-makers through the group has inspired me, and changed my life. I had never made any film before, and now I am producing a full-length documentary called London Rebel Dykes of the 1980s. Through the group I have been in contact with Wotever Film Festival, Leeds Queer Film Festival, Sheffield Documentary Festival and BFI Flare!. I have learnt so much about editing, planning and funding. My ambition for the group is for us to run a Film Festival at HOMEMcr showcasing local film-makers. This group is so inspiring!"
Rose
"I'm Andy, I joined early 2015 after meeting with Rose and other founders to arange the first short film night of the year, then a proud part of the organiser team, including the 48hr film weekends, Pride party and producing this website!"
"Hello, I am Steven, I have been an active organiser in the group since attending a film night at the start of 2015, and since have helped to run the 48hour film weekend."
Faye
"Hello, I’m Faye and have massively enjoyed participating in the 48 hour film weekends and helping out with other events where I can. I’m delighted to be a part of something that brings queer filmmakers together and produces queer media content, so if that’s what you’re into – come and join in!"
Rachel
Hi, im Rachel, I joined the group after attending their 48hr film challenege, where I produced a short film. I created the new Queerchesterfilms NW logo!
Thomas
"I'm Thomas, one of the founders of Queerchester Films NW. It's been fantastic being able to meet and work with such brilliant, smart and genuinely lovely people. We've not been running for a year and already our group is becoming a permanent fixture on the Manchester scene, it's been a tight learning curve, from a film making workshop to promotion and making my own short film and I've enjoyed every second of it.
